Cohen Lerner partner Aaron Silvenis was recognized as an expert by U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Amy Klobuchar in a formal letter addressed to the Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division.

In the letter, Senators Blumenthal and Klobuchar expressed serious concerns about the state of competition in the ticketing industry, particularly in light of the ongoing dominance of Live Nation Entertainment following its merger with Ticketmaster. The Senators specifically referenced a 2011 publication authored by Silvenis and AAI Senior Research Fellow, James Hurwitz for the American Antitrust Institute entitled, Live Aid? Assessing the Ability of the Ticketmaster-Live Nation Consent Decree to Restore Competition Levels in the Primary Ticketing Market.

Although the publication was released in 2011, it anticipated many of the same issues that U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Amy Klobuchar raised with the Department of Justice, prompting the Department to launch an investigation and, most recently, file an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation/Ticketmaster for monopolization and other unlawful anticompetitive conduct in the live entertainment industry.
